The Redcoats are Coming

In an interesting as well as disturbing twist, the American Revolution is being replayed as the “Redcoats” in their red MAGA hats are coming, and have come, to stop the freedoms of the Colonies.  History seems to be repeating itself with the “blue coats” of the opposition in the Democratic Party being their color of choice. (George Washington, for his army, ordered that uniforms for his soldiers in the Continental Army consist of blue coats, white waistcoats, and facings of varying colors.)

What freedom means is now a challenge – “give me liberty” from authoritarianism or “give me liberty” from wokeness are the battle cry these days.  “Give me death” is mostly in the internet threats from the MAGA redcoats.  The original tea party was against the tariffs imposed by King George, and political irony can see that the more recent Tea Party movement, as part of the Republican Party, seems to be the origin of MAGA folowing their Dear Leader in the use of tariffs. What once was red historically is still red, and the “conservative team” has defected to the King Donald side in terms of democracy. Luckily the Democratic Party still carries the democratic label.  Unfortunately, the guns behind the trees of the blue coated Continental Army during the Revolutionary War , who were protecting freedom, have been replaced by the red baseball caps of the National Rifle Association who have armed gun enthusiasts, whether for hunting animals or humans.

What the MAGA supporters for gun rights do not realize is that, in the future, it may once again be the blue coats behind the trees shooting at King Donald’s costumed MAGA redcoats with the NRA regretting they did not take the guns away earlier from the democratic-leaning Blues.

In another unforeseen consequence for color choice for the MAGA, the socialist leaning Labour Party of the United Kingdom for a long time after the Second World War wore red ties to show their alliance with the “Reds” of communism. So the redness of MAGA is really more closely aligned with an imperial army of the first American Revolution and also the dictators of the previous and still “Communist” countries of Soviet Russia, Communist China, Cuba and North Korea. (Someone should retool the movie “Reds” for the MAGAs.

Note: The Libertarians have to choose between personal freedom in abortion rights (Democratic Party) and the dismantling of the welfare state (Republic Party). Maybe they can become a purple party.
