Phone Ruled as Extra Human Organ

Pocket Phone Bulge

The telecommunications providers and cell phone manufacturers have successfully lobbied for legislature to officially recognize cell phones as appendages of the human body, similar to artificial limbs and glass eyes and other medical devices.  This will open the purchasing and operation of cell phones to health insurance coverage and funding.  As there are current apps available on the phones now that improve eyesight, hearing and sense of smell as well as monitor bodily functions, the cell phone has now been deemed integral to human function in line with hearing aids and heart pacemakers.

This is a natural path extension from cell phones as telecommunication devices to currently being essential life-functioning necessities for the young and old. Neck craning to see a phone screen, paralytic hand clutching of the phone and accidents while texting will be now fully covered by health insurance based on being linked to the cell phone as an appendage. This includes physical therapy as well for working on the human hand and on the cell phone itself.

The health insurance providers see this as a threat to their cost of coverage based on the widespread use of cell phones and them now being considered human appendages. Similar to cigarettes with an attempt to shift blame to the user / patient, they are counter-lobbying that cell phones should carry a government-issued warning label about neck and hand and ear damage.

Absent from the discussion, and similar to the thinking that asbestos was harmless at one time, is any mention of the dangers of the microwave radiation. This has deemed to be minor to the damage done to the brain by social media apps.
